Site description

Seacrest Park's Cove 2 sits on the footprint of the old Seacrest Marina — the pilings and sunken dories divers swim past today, now furred in white plumose anemones, are what's left of it. A Halloween 2012 dive here that ended with a diver legally killing a giant Pacific octopus drew enough public backlash that Washington's Fish and Wildlife Commission banned octopus harvesting at this cove and six other Puget Sound sites the following year, and Cove 2 has been a protected octopus preserve ever since. Past the Honey Bear wreck the slope keeps dropping well beyond recreational depth limits, which is exactly why it doubles as Seattle's busiest training ground for new and technical divers alike.

Not a navigational chart. Positions are drawn illustratively from pnwdiving.com's site briefing over a real satellite still (Web Mercator, true scale) — good for orientation and dive-brief planning, not for plotting a GPS track. Features move; confirm on site.
